Batana Oil is extracted from the nuts of the American oil palm tree (Elaeis oleifera) by the Miskito people of La Moskitia, Honduras. They have used the oil for centuries. This is not the same product as the cheaper red or yellow palm oils from the African palm tree.

Although the Miskito people work in the sun all day, their neighbors call them "Tawira," which means People of Beautiful Hair.

Batana Oil is a solid at ordinary room temperatures, and begins melting when you scoop it up with your fingertip.

It is dark colored, and smells like burned sugar cane. You want it for how it will bring your hair back to life, not the aroma.

Directions
For hair: scoop up a little with fingertips, apply to hair, wait 20 minutes, wash out with warm water. For skin: Apply just a few drops to face and problem skin areas before retiring at night. For nails: Rub just a few drops on problem nails before retiring at night.
